Black and White Landscape Pictures - Peak District

The Peak District is my home area. It includes names that may be less familiar, like Eccles Pike, Taxal Edge and the Goyt Valley but they still give striking images. A little further afield but still within easy walking distance of home is Kinderscout, the highest point in Derbyshire at 636 m / 2088 feet, a huge expanse of peat bog, with striking rock formations, streams and a sizeable waterfall.

Mam Tor From Rushup Edge~Peak District~Taken after late winter snow and temperatures stayed low for several days. I neeeded something in the foreground so I put the camera on a tripod and used the self-timer. This gave me about 8 seconds to cover the 100 metres or so (wearing walking boots) to the position I needed to reach! Peak District. March 2004. Mam Tor from Winnats Pass~Peak District~A bitterly cold day at then of January. The sun came out weakly for a few moments only, but was just enough to give me the shot shown here. Taken from the top of Winnats Pass, just above the cattle grid on the road. I was doing a film comparison at the time and the best negative happened to be on Kodak film, rather than my favoured Ilford film. Peak District.
